Building the Evidence for Better Prevention
08 November 2017
Part of the Geneva Peace Week.
The Sustaining Peace Agenda has put renewed attention on conflict prevention as a central priority and goal to enhance international, national and local peace and security. However, there is not yet a systematic research framework telling us what works in avoiding conflict or what a successful peace building approach looks like. The Panel will discuss key issues such as:
What are the current peacebuilding values and are they in line with strategic peace building requirements?
Is there convergence between the strategy expenditure and the real needs? What does an appropriate strategy look like? What information do we have available in order to develop and deliver effective peace building? What types of innovations are suitable, taking into account the current international climate, with unprecedented numbers of displaced people and nationalist sentiment in traditional donor countries? How can we “do more with less”?
