Summary

On June 11, the RESOLVE Network hosted an invite-only webinar on Extreme Right Responses in Times of Global Crises together with the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX) of the University of Oslo and the Polarization and Extremism Research and Intervention Lab (PERIL) at the American University. The event showcased research findings on far-right opportunism and responses to emergent crises, including the current pandemic, global warming, economic lows, and domestic political events across the world. How have far-right groups capitalized on and reacted to global crises both past and present? What tools and connections has the far-right leveraged to address and instrumentalize shocks within the international system? The event explored extreme-right internet culture, offline behavior, the transnational far-right digital ecosystem, and prospects for policy and practice on the way forward.
