Bio

Dr. Alex Thurston is Visiting Assistant Professor at Miami University, with a joint appointment in Political Science and Comparative Religion. He is the author of two books: Salafism in Nigeria: Islam, Preaching and Politics (Cambridge, 2016) and Boko Haram: The History of an African Jihadist Movement (Princeton, 2017). His current research focuses on expressions of Islamic thought in Africa.
